The fifth grade will celebrate the All Saints Celebration during the month of October. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
1. Essay-The students will choose their saints. An essay is to be written in the third person.
2. Class Presentation-The students will give their class oral presentations approximately a week prior to the Celebration. The talk will be given in the first person as if the student is actually the saint, for example, “My name is Saint Matthew and I was a tax collector before becoming a follower of Jesus.” On the day of the presentation, the students will be expected to talk about the lives of their chosen saints without detailed notes.
3. Free Standing Trifold Board- another requirement of this project is the creation of a free standing display board (think science fair demonstration board) containing:
· A picture or drawing of the saint
· Dates/years of birth (approx. if unknown)
· Drawings/pictures of sacramentals or other objects associated with the saint
· Highlights or special events of the saint’s life
· Let your creativity flow when you design the board. It will be graded on the information displayed, neatness, and creativity.
4. Costume- On the morning of the Celebration, the students are to come dressed as their saint. The costume will represent the saint appropriately. Make up is not permitted.
If you have any questions pertaining to this assignment, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for all your help with this project. This event promises to be an enjoyable and memorable day for your child.

Dear Parents and Students,
The Native American Shelter and Essay Project
American Indians: We will be studying Native Americans in the contiguous U.S. and Alaska. Some of the tribes have sites. You will be assigned a tribe to research. Please use the following web sites as well as books from the library of your choice.
What is the correct terminology: American Indian, Indian, Native American, or Native? All of these terms are acceptable. The consensus, however, is that whenever possible, Native people prefer to be called by their specific tribal name.
In the United States, Native American has been widely used but is falling out of favor with some groups, and the terms American Indian or indigenous American are preferred by many Native people.
